The 20 year old disproportionate assets case had its verdict at the Supreme Court today, where AIADMK General Secretary and legislature leader V K Sasikala, Ilavarasi and V N Sudhakaran were convicted guilty, on grounds of corruption and criminal conspiracy.

As firecrackers burst aloud at one side, slogans of Justice and Dharma are thrown around at the other. However, the million dollar question is who will be the Chief Minister? What's the fate of the ruling party, and mainly, the fate of TN politics.

Following Sasikala's exit to politics, the majority of AIADMK MLAs supporting her have nominated Edapadi K Palanisamy as their legislature party leader and they have also communicated this to the Governor Ch.Vidyasagar Rao through Fax. This means they have selected Palanisamy as their CM candiate. . Their official twitter handle also read, "O Panneerselvam removed from primary membership of AIADMK".

These turn of events come as a shocker to those who believed Sasikala's conviction would automatically mean that OPS will be the permanent CM., Now we'll have to wait to see the Governor's call. Whether he will accept Palanisamy's claim to form Government or call for floor test between Panneerselvam and Palanisamy to prove who has majority in the assembly.

Not to forget the fact that the MLAs moving out of Sasikala's camp to support OPS as the Chief Minister has been constantly increasing. As of now OPS claims the support of 10 MLAs of AIADMK.
