After Oscar win Bellie and Bomman offer prayers at Guruvayur

Bellie and Bomman, who gained global fame after the documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the Oscars recently offered prayers at Guruvayur temple in Kerala. As part of their annual pilgrimage to Guruvayur and Kodungallur, Bellie and Bomman observe a 15-day penance. On this visit, they also visited the Chottanikkara temple and were accompanied by their daughter Manju's son, five-year-old Sanjaykumar. During their visit to Guruvayur, they made a point of visiting tuskers Ravi Krishnan and Gopi Krishnan.
Bomman and Billie, who are from the Kattunaikkar tribe in the Mudumalai sanctuary, work as mahouts and train abandoned or injured elephants that are brought to the sanctuary. The couple gained worldwide recognition after their lives were featured in the Oscar-winning documentary "The Elephant Whisperers."
During their visit to the Guruvayur temple, the couple was honored at the Dewaswom office by K P Udayan, the state president of the elephant lovers' association, and K P Vinayan, the Dewaswom administrator. The couple also plans to visit the Kodungallur temple before accepting any honors or felicitations in their hometown.
