Renowned lyricist Ramajogaiah Sastry has established himself as one of the leading figures in Telugu Cinema, drawing inspiration from the legendary Srivennela Seetharama Sastry. Shaping his career under the guidance of his guru, he earned accolades with notable contributions to films, particularly making a significant impact with the song from the movie Ready. Director Srinu Vaitla provided him multiple opportunities to showcase his talent.
As his popularity soared, he garnered further acclaim, winning a Filmfare award for the song Sada Siva Sanyasi in the Trivikram Srinivas and Mahesh Babu starrer, Khaleja. Over time, he solidified his reputation as a versatile lyricist, earning the respect and friendship of influential figures like writer-director Trivikram.
Recently, Ramajogaiah Sastry penned the lyrics for Oh My Baby, the second single from Guntur Kaaram. Upon its release on December 13th, the song faced criticism and trolls from listeners who expressed disappointment with both the lyrics and S Thaman's composition. Reacting to these criticisms, Sastry responded strongly, expressing his displeasure towards the negativity on social media.
In a sharp retort to the trolls, he stated, âSocial media is going to DOGS..â¦people who do not know a thing abt the process..think that they can comment and judgeâ¦with all d ill intentions..of spreading hate..targeting the techniciansâ¦NO..NOT at all good.â
However, this response further fueled negative reactions and trolling toward the lyricist. In subsequent comments, Sastry defended the song, asserting that both the tune and lyrics were good and aligned with current trends. He argued that the trolls were fueled by ill intentions and emphasized the need for someone to stand against such negativity. He also emphasized that not everyone is qualified to comment or judge without understanding the creative process.
In a subsequent post, Sastry acknowledged that people have the right to express their opinions but urged them to exercise care and respect in their words. Despite his attempt to justify the song's quality, the negative comments and memes continued to circulate on social media.
The intense backlash prompted Ramajogaiah Sastry to deactivate his Twitter account, marking a rare instance of a lyricist facing such criticism. The trolling not only targeted S Thaman, the music director, but also directed harsh comments at Sastry, an unexpected turn of events that clearly affected the lyricist. The fans' excessive negativity prompted Sastry to take a strong stance, ultimately withdrawing from the platform to avoid further interactions.
