Three days after ISIS-Khorasan executed a series of deadly blasts in Afghanistan, a fresh explosion is being reported near International Airport in Kabul on Sunday. According to Kabul police chief Rashid, a rocket hit a residential house, a kilometer away from Kabul airport amid the American military's evacuation there. According to primary reports, two (a child and a woman) were killed and three others were injured. Photos and videos of large plumes of smoke rising from a heavily congested residential area surfaced on social media soon after the blast took place.
While Thursday's blast was carried out by a suicide attacker who targeted the crowd outside the Kabul airport, Sunday's attack was suspected to be an airstrike. Further details were not immediately available. After an Islamic State affiliate’s suicide attack on Thursday that killed more than 180 people, the Taliban increased its security. Tuesday is the deadline set by President Joe Biden to withdraw all troops from America’s longest war with Afghanistan.
