Telugu actor Adivi Sesh has been working on biographical war drama 'Major' for a quite a long time. The film is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who laid down his life during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Adivi considers this movie as his passion project just as he considers Major Sandeep as his personal hero. On the 13th anniversary of Mumbai attacks on Friday, Adivi Sesh paid tribute to the martyrs of 26/11 in an event held at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
Adivi was accompanied by Major Sandeep's parents and he took the opportunity to share how he prepared to portray their son on screen. He shared that the family was initially reluctant about having a film made on their son but ultimately they agreed.
Adivi stated, "It was a much bigger chance to inhabit Major Unnikrishnan’s persona. Generally, the film would take a year, but this was a two-and-a-half year long journey, so we got a chance to ultimately make a better film. I wanted to try and understand him, what made him smile, what was his favourite food, his love for animals, things like his favourite bun from his favourite bakery. His mother shared what kind of English and Hindi rhymes he would sing, film songs he would sing. It became less about research, and more about together reminiscing on the soul of someone who is still here yet he is not. That’s the journey I’ve been on, I can’t even presume to understand what his parents feel on the daily basis, I can only try."
