In the time of pandemic when most movie theatres are out of business, OTT platforms became the popular choice among filmmakers for releasing their movies. Several mainstream stars like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan etc had their movies released digitally. However, there are some filmmakers who are firm believers of cinema who won't accept anything other than the traditional theatrical release. Aditya Chopra of YRF is one such producer.
According to several news portals, Aditya has been offered huge sums by leading OTT platforms but he has turned them all down. There are several YRF movies which are completed and are awaiting release. These include 'Shamshera', 'Bunty Aur Babli 2', 'Prithviraj' and few others. YRF has been holding on to these films for about one and a half years now.
Outlets have reported that Aditya was offered around 400 crore rupees by Amazon Prime Video for 4 movies but he simply declined the offer. He is a strong believer that YRF movies are only meant to be viewed on the big screen.
