Within hours from now, Aditi Rao Hydari's debut Tamil film 'Kaatru Veliyidai' directed by the most celebrated filmmaker of Tamil cinema, Mani Ratnam would have hit the worldwide screens.
In her interview to IndiaGlitz, the Hyderabad born lass reveals a unique attribute of Mani Ratnam in etching out his characters and how he makes sure the actors enacting the character enact them in the best manner.
"I went to the Apollo hospital and they were very generous. They let me into the Emergency ward and I spent a lot of time with the doctors there. I din't know that there is a way to wear even the stethoscope around the neck. You have put it in a particular way and you can't put it like a necklace and just roam around. I learnt to take the pulse, blood pressure and other things. Mani sir would be very sure that I actually (correctly) take the blood pressure. Little little things like that. I learnt also how to deal with patients and all. But honestly the film is not about that. It is a love story. But it's just that Mani sir's characters are very complete. They're not just randomly falling in love. They also have jobs. They also have other things that ride them. And through that how they fall in love. Mani sir films are never like that. They (characters) are so real. They have job. They have other things Its contextual."
Aditi's words indeed prove that why Mani Ratnam is hailed as the Master of characterisation.
