The much expected desi winner 'Adaminte Makan Abu', which was India's official entry to the Oscars this year, is now out of the race. The film couldn't make it to the final nine of the total 63 films competing for the foreign language Oscars. The movie by debutante director, Salim Ahmed, did extremely well in Indian circuits and festivals winning four awards at the national awards and Kerala state Awards and Special Jury Awards at IFFI and IFFK.

The nine films qualified includes those from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Poland and Taiwan.

The Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood.
