Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the government's preparedness to address the looming drought situation, highlighting the depletion of reservoirs and water scarcity due to deficient monsoon rains. Speaking at the launch of the Rythu Nestham program, aimed at addressing farmers' issues through video conferences at 2,601 Rythu Vedikas across the state, Revanth Reddy appealed to farmers in Karimnagar, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar, who are demanding water release from reservoirs, to understand the current challenges.

Under Phase 1 of the Rythu Nestham program, video conferencing facilities were established in 110 Assembly constituencies as a pilot project. The program, led by the agriculture department with government funding of Rs. 97 crore, has enlisted the support of Prof. Jayashankar Agricultural University. The initiative aims to facilitate interactions between farmers and agricultural experts to address field-level challenges, provide suggestions, and impart advanced farming techniques.

Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of Rythu Nestham in providing farmers with crucial information on farming activities for each season, allowing direct interaction with experts. He highlighted the government's commitment to supporting farmers through various schemes like Rythu Bharosa, crop loan waivers, seed supply, and market yard establishment, ensuring that farmers benefit from their produce.

The Chief Minister encouraged farmers to diversify their crops, taking advantage of Telangana's suitable land and climate for cultivating 26 different types of crops. He stressed the importance of crop rotation to reduce water usage and financial burden, urging farmers to use the Rythu Nestham program to communicate their problems to the government.

Revanth Reddy also mentioned the implementation of a crop insurance scheme, initiated based on the advice of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. The scheme aims to provide bereaved families with Rythu Bima benefits and instill confidence among farmers by ensuring compensation for crop damage due to drought or floods.

The program saw the participation of officials, farmers' union representatives, and farmers from various districts, who shared their experiences and discussed strategies to enhance agricultural profitability. The government reiterated its commitment to supporting farmers during tough times and urged them not to lose courage, assuring them of continued government support.
