Mani Ratnam's dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan' went on floors in December 2019 in Thailand and a major portion was shot in the forests there with Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, and others participating. The coronavirus pandemic forced a nine-month break for the project and now the crew is back in Hyderabad.

Trisha who is said to be playing Kundavai is in major prep for her role and she has shared that she is into round two of reading Kalki's novel 'Ponniyin Selvan'. The photo proves that she is in work mode even while traveling.

'Ponniyin Selvan' produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions has music by A.R. Rahman. The cast virtually has the who is who of South Indian cinema that includes Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Nizhalgal Ravi, Riaz Khan, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
