Veteran actress, producer and director Sripriya's mother Girija Pakriswamy passed away due to old age. She was 81. She was the wife of the famous Bharatanatyam artiste and guru the late Natesan Pakiriswamy,.

It is worth mentioning that Girija Pakriswamy,has directed the film 'Kathodu Thaan Naan Pesavan' starring Vijayan and Sripriya and has also acted in the films 'Neeya' and 'Nakshathram' directed by Sripriya. Her last rites will be held today, November 23rd in Chennai.

Apart from Sripriya, Girija Pakriswamy also has a son Srikanth. Her eldest daughter Meenakshi the mother of actor Shivaji Dev passed away a few years back. She was instrumental in grooming Sripriya as an actress who went on to become one of the leading female stars in South India. Most notably Sripriya has starred in 30 films with Superstar Rajinikanth and 28 film with Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan.
