The most talented and the versatile actress Sridevi (54) has passed away due to cardiac arrest. Sridevi was in Dubai to attend the wedding of a family friend when the ill fate took her life.
Born in 1963 at Sivakasi of Tamil Nadu, Sridevi made her acting debut at the age of 4 with the film 'Thunaivan'. She continued acting as a child artist in South Indian languages with many legendary stars including MGR and Sivaji Ganesan.
She was introduced as a heroine by K.Balachander with his 1976 film 'Moondru Mudichu' in which she co-starred with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. From there, went on to rule the roost in all four South Indian languages.Later she migrated to the Bollywood and also became a leading star in India's biggest film industry.
In 2012 she made a comeback after a long gap with 'English Vinglish' directed by Gauri Shinde .She also made a comeback to Kollywood with the Vijay starrer 'Puli' that released in 2015 Her last film happened to be 'Mom' which release last year.
Sridevi has won six Filmfare awards and the Indian Government has honoured her contributions with the Civilian honour Padma Shri.
Sridevi is survived by husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters.
