As technology advances, its darker side is also growing at an alarming rate. Specifically, the trend of using AI technology to create and release obscene, morphed images of leading actresses is on the rise. Following recent incidents involving actresses Rashmika Mandanna and Alia Bhatt, actress Sreeleela has now expressed her deep distress over this issue.
Posting on social media about her photos being misrepresented, Sreeleela shared that this has caused her significant mental trauma.
“I am Folded hands requesting everyone: please do not support such absurd things created through AI. There is a massive difference between using technology and misusing it,” she stated.
She expressed her grief over seeing her fellow actresses suffer from such derogatory acts, just as she has. Emphasizing that a woman should be viewed as an integral part of society rather than just an object, she highlighted the following:
Society must realize that every woman is someone’s daughter, granddaughter, sister, friend, or colleague. Preventing such acts is not just a matter of individual morality but a collective responsibility of society. “I request you all to please stand by us,” she added in an emotional appeal.
Sreeleela’s post serves as a poignant reminder that technology is meant to enhance human life, not to destroy an individual’s personal life and dignity.
