Actress Sharmeila Mandre is the granddaughter of legendary producer R. N. Mandre and niece of producer Sunanda Murali Manohar who has bankrolled blockbuster hits 'Jeans', 'Jodi', 'Mnnalae' and 'Dhaam Dhoom. Sharmeila after acting in several Kannada films made her Tamil debut in 'Mirattal' opposite Vinay but the film failed at the box office but she continued to server as producer for films such as 'Ivanukku Engeryo Machcham Irukku' and the upcoming 'Sandakari' starring Vemal and Shriya' and 'Naanum Single Dhaan' starring Dinesh.

On Saturday in the early hours, Sharmeila Mandre and her male friend Lokesh Vasanth were speeding in her Jaguar car KA-51-MJ-2481 when the vehicle crashed at the underbridge of Vasanth Nagar in Central Business District (CBD) in Bengaluru. When police got the message and rushed to the spot a man claimed that he was driving the vehicle and his friends were inside but did not want the police to register a case and said he will handle it. Since the railway property was damaged the police pressed into investigation and found 33 year old Sharmeila and 35 year old Lokesh admitted at a Fortis hospital nearby. The duo had claimed that they met with an accident in a different are (JP Nagar) and when they knew police was on their trail they got discharged from the hospital claiming they would get treated from their family doctors.

Police circles say that since there is a lockdown in Bengaluru due to the coronavirus pandemic actress Sharmeila and her male friend Lokesh Vasanth had violated the rules by speeding in their luxury car and then crashing it damaging public property. The investigation is on and action is expected to be taken against them for misleading the police. (Crash photo courtesy DH).
