On the wee hours of Saturday morning Sharmeila's luxury Jaguar car crashed at a busy junction in Bengaluru and she along with her friend Lokesh Vasanth was admitted to a nearby hospital. Karnataka news reports suggested that the young actress-producer was partying at night with male friends and that the accident occurred due to drunken driving.

Sharmeila Mandre has clarified that she had severe stomach pain that night and since she could not drive the car by herself had to call friends for help and the unfortunate accident happened. She has denied that she was partying at night with male friends and also taking alcohol which is banned during the lockdown.
