Kamal Haasan one of the biggest superstars ever in Indian cinema was married to actress Sarika from 1998 to 2004 after several years of living together.  The couple share daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan who are also famous actresses in their own right.

Sarika, moved to Mumbai after her divorce and was acting in films and theaters but took a break recently.  She revealed in a recent interview "I just thought I was wasting life in a way if you look at it. You wake up every morning, (things) don’t happen, you go to sleep. So I just decided to take one year’s break and not do any work. Go away and do something totally different. That was so brilliant that one year turned into five years. So I was just happy doing all that."

The 61 year old actress added “Lockdown happened and the money ran out, so where do you go? You go back to acting because in theatre you just get like ₹2000-2700 and you can’t do anything so this is why I was not at all there. It was a very conscious decision but I thought it would be for a year but it turned out to be five years. Those were great five years."

Sarika Thakur is currently acting in an upcoming Amazon Prime Video series directed by Alankrita Shrivastava in the segment titled 'My Beautiful Wrinkles'.  She plays the role of a 60 year old woman who has to handle the romantic overtures of a young man.  The series will stream from May 13th onwards.
