Saranya made her debut as a child artist in 'Aniyathi Pravu', starring Shalini Ajith, and also reprised the role in the Tamil version 'Kadhalukku Mariyadhai' that had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead. She then received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her bubbly role as an infatuated teenager in 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' costarring Dhanush and Nayanthara.

Saranya after featuring in many films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi got married to Aravind Krishnan in 2015 and settled into marital bliss. The couple is also parents to a baby boy named Anantapadmanabhan and a girl Annappoorna.
