Sanam Shetty who has made her debut in Tamil with 'Ambuli' has since acted in close to twenty films. But her claim to widespread fame came after her participation in 'Bigg Boss 4' hosted by Kamal Haasan. On the show she earned the reputation for being straightforward and despite some angry outbursts was tipped to stay in the house till the end.

Though Sanam was evicted on the 63rd day from 'Bigg Boss 4', her followers on social media has increased multifold. One particular fan of Sanam pointed to the fact that she wears the traditional kumkum at the tip of her forehead which only married women mostly do in India.

Speculations started that Sanam may have secretly married but she put a rest to it with her reply. She has written "Aww haha.. too many asking this question..I'm not married dears..not yet! with all ur blessings maybe someday Forehead kumkum is not restricted to married women in my home."

Sanam was engaged to be married to 'Bigg Boss 3' contestant Tharshan Thiyagarajah but he broke up with her. The actress has since filed a case against him for promising to marry and cheating and the legal procedures are in motion.
