For thousands of years in India the caste system has been reason for many a social evil and visionary leaders and philosophers have been trying to abolish it all along. A young actress deciding to remove her caste from her name has won the praise of netizens.
Actress Samyuktha Menon is one of the promising talents to emerge in Malayalam cinema in recent times. She has also made her mark in Telugu cinema and has appeared in a few Tamil films too. Her big break has now come through the Tamil/Telugu bilingual biggie 'Vaathi' starring Dhanush in the lead role.
Samyuktha has made an open statement that she does not like to be identified by her caste and hence will henceforth remove her surname Menon. She explained that she used it since there were several actresses with her first name in Mollywood.
Samyuktha added that since she hails from Palakkad she speaks Tamil fluently and considers herself lucky to have got the opportunity to star alongside Dhanush in 'Vaathi' which is releasing as 'Sir' in Telugu as well on February 17th. According to the talented actress the film deals with the shortcomings in the education sector and emphasizes that everyone should have the right of education.
'Vaathi/Sir' is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya and is directed by Venky Atluri with G.V. Prakash Kumar scoring the music. The supporting cast includes P. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Thotapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, Hyper Aadi, Shara, Aadukalam Naren,Ilavarasu, Rajendran,
Hareesh Peradi and Praveena.
