Leading Tamil and Telugu actress Samantha has been married to Telugu hero Naga Chaitanya the son of superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni since 2017. The couple were in love for several years before tying the knot. For the past few months rumors are circulating on social media that Sam and Chai as they are addressed by friends are heading for a divorce

The rumors were triggered after Samantha dropped the family surname Akkineni in her social media pages and reverted back to her maiden name Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Friends of the couple have maintained that the rumours are baseless and that they have even bought houses together in Goa and Mumbai. Both the celebrities involved have not clarified the reports. Naga Chaitanya has finally opened up about his alleged divorce with Samantha but in a rather vague manner. He spoke to the media during the promotions of his upcoming film 'Love Story' costarring Sai Pallavi. He stated that from a young age he has been kept his screen career and personal life as two different entities. The habit, he said came to him from his own mom and dad who never discussed films after coming home and vice versa.

Naga Chaitanya, however, admitted that the divorce rumors were painful to him initially but that he realized that in the digital world if one news is exciting today another one will replace it tomorrow and the previous one would be forgotten. He added that he has now learned to ignore it in spite of his every move being covered constantly by the media.
