Pranathi who recently was in her native town of Thalassery to visit her ailing grandfather was threatened at gunpoint by her own uncle. The actress was shocked when her uncle Aravind visited the residence at nightfall and threatened her over a  ancestral family property which is in dispute between the two. Fearing for her safety, the actress filed a complaint against Aravind with the Thalassery police.

"Aravind had been threatening me over the past few days and now he has resorted to use a gun. Even though he is a close relative of mine, I had no other option than to complain about him to the police," the actress said.
