Actress Pragathi made her debut as a heroine in the Tamil film 'Veetla Viseshanga' directed by K Bhagyaraj released in the year 1994. She has since acted in a several films including the Vijayakanth starrer 'Periyamarudu' as the heroine and is currently appearing in character roles as an elder sister and mother. She also has also had a busy career in television serials too.

On the personal front, Pragathi married a software engineer whe she was in her twenties and the couple has two children. A few years later she divorced her husband due to irreconcilable differences and is living with her sons who are now grown up and well educated.

There was a news that Pragathi was planning remarry which she has quashed as baseless rumours. She stated 'I am now 47 years old and remarriage has never been on my mind. I have been alone so far and have faced many problems and overcame them. I dont have any need for a life partner now and am also not looking for it. My priority is my fitness, career and my sons".

Pragathi is currently acting in the Telugu movie 'Bhola Shankar' starring Chiranjeevi, Tamanaah and Keerthy Suresh. In Tamil she will soon be seen in 'Bhagheera' starring Prabhu Deva.
