Actress Poorna who made her Tami debut opposite Bharath in 'Muniyandi Vilangial Moonramandu' directed by Thirumurgan has since acted as heroine in many films. In the recent 'Savarakathi' starring Mysskin and Ram she impressed as a deaf woman.

Poorna whose real name is Shamna Kasim resides in Kerala and four persons allegedly demanded rupees one lakh from her and when she refused threatened to damage her name in the public eye and also tried to take photographs of her house.

Poorna's mother shocked by the incident immediately lodged a police complaint and the Maradu police investigated and arrested Sharath, Ashraf of Kaipamangalam, Rafeeq of Vadanappally and Ramesh of Kadavannoor. The accused have been remanded to police custody.

Poorna is playing the role of V.K. Sasikala in the Jayalalitha biopic 'Thalaivi' directed by Vijay and starring Kangana Ranaut as Jaya and Arvind Swamy as MGR.
