The MeToo movement that gained force in 2018 has given courage to many women in the entertainment industry to come forward and out the men in power who exploited them sexually in the guise of providing them with work. Actress Payal Ghosh has accused acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexually harassing her in 2014.

In an interview she has stated that during the making of 'Bombay Velvet' starring Ranbir Kapoor she had gone over to Anurag's house to seek a chance in one of his films and he had invited her over for lunch. She had stated that after cooking and serving her he even took her plates to clean but after that played an adult movie and then became naked asking her also to do the same.

Payal Ghosh has added that when she showed her discomfort Anurag told her that all the actresses who worked with him had a good time with him and they will come to him just with a call. The actress then left the place and never met him again and she said that at that time she did not speak about it because she didn't want any trouble but now has the courage.

Anurag Kashyap who is known to Tamil audiences as Nayanthara's villain in 'Imaikka Nodigal' has rubbished the accusation as baseless and has tweeted in Hindi that it is an attempt to silence him since he is voicing out against the ruling government.

Anurag has added " "Whether it's my first wife or second, or a girlfriend... or all those actresses who worked with me... or all those female colleagues who have been working with me... I don't indulge in such behaviour in public or otherwise. Neither do I tolerate such behaviour. Rest, whatever happens... let's see. In the video, you can figure how true the allegations are... otherwise, just love and good wishes for you. Apologies for replying to you in Hindi for your accusations in English."

Payal Ghosh has acted in a few Telugu and one Hindi film and is pretty active on social media.
