Actress P. Shruthi aged 22 and hailing from Coimbatore was arrested by the city police last year over allegations of cheating a software engineer to the tune of 41 lakhs rupees and several other youngster of 1.5 Crores.  It was alleged that the victims were lured from matrimonial cites with the proposition of marriage.  Shruthi's mother Chithra 48, brother Subhash 19 and Prasanna Venkatesh 38 were also taken into custody.

P. Shruthi who has acted in an unreleased film 'Aadi Ponaa Avani' has approached the Madras High Court to remove the news content about her from the internet search engines claiming that most of them are false and are causing mental distress to her.  She has also stated that she has quit acting and is focussing on her studies and is facing her cheating cases legally.  Shruthi appeared before the CyberCrime cell police inspector Mallika on Friday to give details about her requisition.
