Oviya who has given sold performances in films such as 'Kalavani', 'Marina', 'Kalakalappu', 'Moodar Koodam; and 'Yaamirukka Bayame' gained more fame by participating in the 'Bigg Boss' season one hosted by Kamal Haasan. Among all the celebrities who have participated in the four seasons, no one has managed to emulate the frenzy among fans that Oviya achieved and the Oviya Army continues to celebrate her on social media.

In the recent past, Oviya has turned more towards philosophy and has been posting messages on that line on her return to social media after a hiatus. She has also been actively criticizing some of the central government policies.

Oviya's latest tweet is a clear voice against the Modi-led government once again as she has first questioned "Is this democracy or democrazy ???" adding the hashtag ##ArrestMeToo. This is a strong reaction to the arrest of 25 people in Delhi who allegedly put up posters questioning why the Modi government exported the vaccines of the children of India.

Rajiv Gandhi reacting to the arrest had put up the hashtag Arrest Me Too which has been trending high on Twitter and now Oviya for her part has raised the question and her fans are calling it a bold statement.
