Actress Oviya played strong roles in movies such as 'Kalavani', 'Marina', 'Kalakalappu', 'Moodar Koodam' and 'Yamirukka Bayame'. She then returned to the limelight by participating as a contestant on the inaugural season of 'Bigg Boss' hosted by Kamal Haasan.

Oviya became the first celebrity to attain superstardom in 'Bigg Boss' and she won millions of fans for her casual and straightforward gameplay on the show. Her on screen romance with Aarav on the show also set the tone for further seasons where similar approaches were adapted by other contestants with much lesser success.

Oviya who was expected to win the title however walked out of 'Bigg Boss' on day 41 due to health related issues. She has since acted in films such as '90ML' and 'Kanchana 3' but with little success.

Oviya who rarely uses social media has posted a tweet after several months and has shared her opinion on the recent changes in the Indian marriage act. She wrote "Increasing #MarriageAge is a right decision! You don’t need to sacrifice many things and take very big responsibilities at an early age! I strongly support".

The Oviya army caught by surprise have slowly woken up to their icon's return to the social media space and are commenting and sharing her views vigorously. Oviya's current movie under production in Tamil is 'Sambhavam' directed by Ranjith which has Abhi Saravanan playing the male lead. It is said to be a horror comedy.
