Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam lost badly in the recently concluded assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and analysts predicted that he would soon dissolve the party after many top functionaries resigned. But Kamal on Saturday called for a meeting of his party members for a revamp and has signalled that he is going to continue his public life.
On the movie's front Kamal has planned to shoot his own movie 'Vikram' directed by Lokesh Kangaraj in a few week's time. The film reportedly has Vijay Sethupathi and Fahaadh Faasiil as the antagonists.
Meanwhile there are reports that Kamal is also contemplating signing on and complete 'Papanasam 2' quickly allotting bulk dates of 45 days. The original movie 'Papanasam' the remake of the Malayalam pan Indian hit 'Drishyam' released in 2014 turned out to be a big money-spinner.
Kamal's close friend Sripriya who produced 'Papanasam' is also producing 'Papanasam 2' and is keen to bring original director Jeetu Joseph on board. One major hitch is that Kamal and Gauthami who were a couple and starred together in the film have split now and have decided to part ways professionally too.
It was reported earlier that Meena was considered to replace Gauthami and talks were held but since she is playing the same role in Telugu and Kannada versions after the 'Drishyam 2' original in Malayalam. It is said that the producers felt that it will be an overkill for audiences who are likely to come across all the versions on OTT.
Now its said that the makers of 'Papanasam 2' have zeroed in on Nadhiya Moidu to play the female lead and have initiated talks with her. Nadhiya who was in the peak during the eighties has paired with almost all the big heroes of the time including Rajinikanth and Vijayakanth. But she never got the opportunity to work with Kamal Haasan.
Kamal and Nadhiya will surely make a great pair and it will also be a fresh experience for the audience. Stay tuned for the official announcement on this one.
