Actress Manisha Koirala is more famous for her films in Tamil that became international hits than her Bollywood projects. She made her Tamil debut in Mani Ratnam's 'Bombay' and went on to star opposite Kamal in 'Indian' and 'Aalavandhaan' and Rajini in 'Baba'. The talented beauty was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and successfully fought it and recovered.
Manisha is embroiled in controversy after a tweet in which she has supported her mother country Nepal's decision to issue a new map which shows its territories widened. She had posted “Thank you for keeping the dignity of our small nation..we all are looking forward for a peaceful and respectful dialogue between all three great nations now,”
Netizens took exception to Manisha's post as the new borders in the map is in conflict with Indian territory and the External Affairs Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastav posted "This unilateral act is not based on historical facts and evidence. It is contrary to the bilateral understanding to resolve the outstanding boundary issues through diplomatic dialogue, Such artificial enlargement of territorial claims will not be accepted by India".
Manisha was born in Nepal and her grandfather Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala was the former Prime Minister of the neighbouring country. Social media users are pointing out to the actress that she has acted and earned her living in India and is settled in Mumbai and its wrong of her to support her foreign country in this issue. The actress, however, has not reacted to the trolls and criticisms.
