Popular Tamil television actress Lakshmi Vasudevan who has acted in several movies and serials such as ‘Saravanan Meenatchi’ and ‘Oru Oorla Oru Rajakumari’ has posted a tearful video with a sincere request to fans.
Lakshmi has stated that morphed obscene photos of her have been circulated to all her contacts on Whatsapp including her parents and close friends. Saying that her close circle knows about her and she need not explain anything to them she has chosen to expose the issue to warn fans against this cyber crime method.
According to Lakshmi she recieved a message stating that she has won a prize of rupees five lakhs and once she clicked on it an app downloaded by itself. Criminals had then hacked her mobile and stolen her photos and then morphed them obscenely and circulated them.
The cyber criminal had then messaged her that she had taken a loan of rupees five thousand (yes you read it right) and demanded that she repay it. The person had then warned that if she did not pay the amount her photos will be ciruclated. Lakshmi has appealed to her fans not to click on such fraudulent links from unknown persons. She has registerd a case with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Department who are investigating.
