The Tamil television circuit came under shock as popular TV actor Eashwar Raghunath was arrested and lodged in prison after his wife Jayashree complained to the police that she was brutally attacked by him.  Initially, it was said that the couple had arguments regarding Raghunath pledging his wife's property worth thirty lakhs and procuring loans and not repaying them.

Now it has come to light that the real problem is that Eashwar Raghunath is allegedly involved in an illegal affair with actress Mahalakshmi who is playing the villain in a serial 'Devathaiyai Kandein' in which he is the hero.  Jayashree who is also an actress and dancer-choreographer has stated to the police that they got married four years back and have a girl child.  She had known that her husband was an alcoholic even before marriage but for the past few months he was so involved with his co-actress that he would make video calls to her and speak in an intimate manner right in front of his wife and child.

Jayashree has further alleged Mahalakshmi herself is married and has a son and Raghunath insists that he call him dad.  In the complaint, she has also revealed that in a drunken state the actor would beat her up often asking her for divorce so that he can marry his lover.
