Gauthami during the 90s was one of the leading actresses in South India who has paired up with almost all the leading heroes in the Tamil film industry including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, Prabhu, Karthik, Sathyaraj and Ramarajan.

Gauthami, who married Sandeep in 1998, and divorced him one and a half years later has been bringing up her daughter Subbulakshmi as a single mother. She is now active as a politician in the BJP party.

Gauthami's daughter Subbalakshmi is active on Instagram. From time to time she keeps posting pictures of herself with her mother that attract her followers in a big way. The Tamil festival Karthikai Deepam is being celebrated today (December 6th) and Subbalakshmi posted photos of her celebrations with her mother. One particular pic of Subbalakshmi sitting on Gauthami's lap has got the most number of likes.

Gauthami who battled and overcame cancer is also making a comeback to movies after a long gap. She is acting in a few films including Vishal's 'Thupparivalan 2' and Samantha's 'Shakunthalam'.
