Actress Gautami was one of the leading heroines in the South during the late eighies and nineties who paired with almost all the top hereos including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mammootty, Mohan Lal, Chiranjeevi, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Prabhu and Karthik.

Gautami's six bank accounts were frozen by the Income Tax department due to a dispute in the sale of an agricultural property belonging to Gautami in Kottaiyoor near Sriperumpudur in Tamil Nadu.

Gautami had countered the move in the high court and she revealed that in 2016 she sold the property for rupees 4.10 Crores and not 11.17 Crores as claimed by the IT department. She also pointed out that the particular amount will not come under capital gain and that she had assessed her income for that period as Rs. 34.88 lakhs and paid taxes of Rs. 9.14 lakhs including interest.

When the case came up for hearing again in the Chennai High Court today, the judge ordered the Income Tax Department to release the six frozen accounts of actress Gautam after paying 25 per cent of the capital gains tax. The judge adjourned the case for 4 weeks.
