It was in January this year, ‘Joseph’ fame actress Athmiya Rajan entered wedlock with her longtime boyfriend Sanoop. The news came as a surprise for many. No wonder, pictures from their fairy tale like wedding generated waves on social media as well.

In a recent interview with Mathrubhumi magazine, the actress opened up about her love story. “Though we studied in the same college, I had not met him during my college days. Unexpectedly, I received Sanoop’s message one day. Later, we became good friends. Finally, our friendship led to the marriage in January," said Athmiya.

In 2012, Athmiya made her acting debut with the Tamil movie ‘Manam Kothi Paravai’. After watching the movie, Sanoop dropped her a message and since then they shared a very close bond. "After watching the movie, Sanoop had sent a message to me and introduced himself as an old collegemate. We started our friendship on that day. After two-years long romance, we revealed the matter to our parents. At first, they were not ready to accept our love. But later, both families agreed for our marriage,” said Athmiya, adding that theirs' was a secret marriage. "Even our natives had no idea about our love story,” said Athmiya.

In Malayalam, Athmiya made her debut with the movie titled ‘Vellathooval’. She had won the Kerala Film Critics Award for her role in ‘Joseph.' She has also starred in several other Tamil movies including - ‘Pongadi Neengalum Unga Kadhalum,’ ‘Naamam,’ ‘Kaaviyan’ and ‘Vellai Yaanai.’
