Actress assault case: Court dismisses Dileep's plea

After securing bail, actor Dileep has been trying to delay the trial in the actress assault case. On saturday, Dileep's plea seeking a discharge from the list of accused in the sensational case of alleged abduction and assault of a popular actress, has been dismissed by the trial court. The court also rejected the plea of the 10th accused Vishnu.
Dileep approached the court on the ground that there was insufficient evidence to support him in the case. However, the court dismissed his plea after the prosecution argued that there was sufficient and strong evidence to prove Dileep was guilty. Dileep, who was named as a conspirator and charged with revenge crime, is the eight accused in the case.
It is reported that Dileep is likely to approach the higher court. The Supreme Court has directed that the trial should be completed in six months.
On February 17, 2017, popular south Indian actress was sexually assaulted inside a moving vehicle and the videos of the same were recorded by the culprits. Following investigations, it was found that there are 10 accused in the case. And, actor Dileep was arrested on July 10, 2017 for conspiring with the prime accused Pulsar Sunil for committing the crime.
