On Monday, the crime branch of the Kerala Police on Monday arrested Sarath G Nair, a friend of actor Dileep, in connection with the actress assault case. According to the Police, Sarath was was arrested for destroying key evidence related to the case. Sarath had allegedly handed over a tablet containing visuals of the assault to Dileep back in 2017. The tablet was then later allegedly destroyed by Sarath. Sarath came under the radar after director Balachandra Kumar came out against the actor with evidence. His involvement in the case was confirmed with the help of voice samples. Just hours after the arrest, Sarath was granted bail.

The survivor actress who has worked in all South Indian language films was abducted and molested in a movie car for two hours by a gang of few men who had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017. The main accused Pulsar Suni has filmed the entire act to blackmail the actress. There are 10 accused in the case and initially police arrested seven people. Dileep was arrested subsequently and released on bail later, after over a month. Dileep and five others were booked under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 116 (abetment), 34 (criminal act done by several people), 118 (concealing design to commit offence), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation), and later section 302 was also added to it for allegedly conspiring to murder the officials probing the 2017 actress assault case.
