Vipin Lal, an approver in the actress attack case, has filed a police complaint saying that he is under pressure to change his statement. Vipinlal, who had written a letter for prime accused Pulsar Suni during his jail tenure to Malayalam actor Dileep, had given the statement in court and to the police in January 2020.
Since then, Vipin alleges to have been receiving threat messages over the phone and via post at his uncle's house and his workplace. Talking to a popular TV channel Vipin revealed that he was offered several lakhs and a house to withdraw his statement against Dileep. Also, the alleged aides of actor Dileep threatened to kill Vipin if he gave any statement against him.
"The threat was that my days are numbered if spoken against the actor. I’ll not retract the statement even if I die," said Vipin Lal. It may be noted that several actors who were the prime witnesses in the case had recently turned hostile and changed their satements too.
On February 17, 2017, the actress was allegedly abducted and molested in a moving vehicle, which was filmed by the accused to blackmail her. Seven people, including the key accused 'Pulsar' Suni were arrested in connection with the actress' abduction case.
Actor Dileep was subsequently arrested and arrayed as an accused in connection with offences under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act. The actor who spent 85 days in jail, was released on bail with stringent conditions by the Kerala High Court.
