Malayalam actress who was abducted and molested in a moving car in 2017, approached the high court seeking the trial in the case be shifted out of the present special court where proceedings are underway. The survivor actress alleged that the trial court's act has been biased and has made lapses in recording the victim’s statement.
In the petition, the actress complained that she has been psychologically tortured in the name of the hearing by the defendant lawyer, yet the court failed to question the same. It may be noted that the Supreme Court had earlier ordered to complete the trial with no more delays and announce the verdict by January 2021. And so, the survivors' petition is likely to be considered by the High Court.
The trial began earlier this year and the court has by now examined close to 200 witnesses. As reported earlier, several witnesses including actors Siddique, Edavela Babu and Bhama changed their statements and turned hostile.
The actress was abducted and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on February 17, 2017. Malayalam film actor Dileep, who was arrested in July 2017 in connection with the case as a conspirator, is currently on bail and is said to have been allegedly trying to delay the trial and also influencing the witnesses.
