Actress Aparna Nair who has acted in the Tamil movie 'Edhuvum Nadakkum' and several Malayalam movies became a victim of online sexual harassment. A netizen commented on one of the actress' pictures with sexually explicit comments and in no time, the actress slammed him publicly through a social media post and also lodged a complaint at the cyber cell.
The cyber police in Kerala apparently took swift action and Aparna has shared "I had filed a complaint to the Additional Director General of Police, Manoj Abraham sir against Mr Ajith Kumar for abusing me verbally on a public platform. Cyber cell did their investigation and I was called to their office today. Though I reached on time, I had to wait for the accused for almost an hour. When he finally came all I wanted to ask him was why he did that n his reply was it was a random comment among the other political comments he made on Facebook. Whoa!,"
Aparna added "But considering his family and financial situation, I withdrew my complaint, and he gave me a written apology claiming that he won't repeat it or disrespect any other women anymore. I would like to thank the media person who called me and helped me to lodge the complaint. My sincere gratitude to Manoj Abraham sir, Cyber Police SI Manikandan sir, Gibin Gopinath and officers from Women Cell, Trivandrum for helping me out. "
Aparna Nair's decision to forgive the abuser due to his background and at the same time getting it in writing from him not to do the same to other women has won appreciation among netizens.
