Actress Alphonsa is known for her glamorous roles and item songs in multiple languages ever since her debut in Kamal Haasan's 'Panchathanthiram'. Her sister Shobha Vasanth, allegedly runs a private employment company in Valasaravakam, Chennai.

A few months back several persons lodged police complaints against Shobha accusing her of cheating them by getting lakhs of money promising jobs abroad and failing to do so. It seems that many job seekers paid between rupees 15 lakhs to 30 lakhs after she advertised that she would get them jobs in Singapore and Canada with a salary of three lakh rupees per month.

Shobha after collecting crores of rupees in that manner had suddenly vacated the Valasaravakkam office and shifted it to Nolampur. The shocked persons then searched for her for several months and then located her Nolambur office and demanded their money back. She had requested them for time till March but suddenly disappeared again.

Following this, a case was registered against Shoba who was absconding but the police found that she was staying at a hostel in Kodambakkam and arreted her. In this situation, people who lost lakhs of money are filing complaints in a row and it is said that the value of the amount she has defrauded is in crores.
