On Friday, actress Ahaana Krishna took to her social media handle to share the demise of her aunt (grandmom's sister) after contracting COVID-19. In a detailed note, the actress penned about how her "Ammumma" succumbed to the deadly virus despite having taken the vaccination.
Sharing a few throwback pictures of her aunt, Ahaana wrote, "The aunty in the pink saree carrying baby Ishaani is Molly Ammumma ( My Mother’s Mother’s younger sister ) . She passed away today due to Covid. She contracted the virus through someone who came to her house to invite her for a wedding , end of April. That person apparently tested positive few days later and then she developed symptoms and finally tested positive last Monday. She was admitted to a hospital two days ago due to breathlessness and passed away this morning. It’s quite unbelievable for us, the whole situation. Can’t believe she’s gone. My mother has so many memories with her. A very active person , I’m sure while getting admitted to the hospital , even she wouldn’t have thought in her wildest dreams that she was going to die. She was 64 and vaccinated - both the doses."
She further added, "As per what I had commonly heard .. I was under the assumption that if you have taken both doses of the vaccine , even if you get Covid .. it’d go off mild. Nope , I was wrong. You could be double vaccinated , still you’re not safe. The vaccine sure maybe a shield for many , but never a guarantee. Also I wish she had tested once she had the mildest of symptoms. A delay in testing may have allowed the virus to grow inside her."
She also urged the netizens to follow the precaution to stay safe. She wrote, "If you’re reading this , please realise the following and tell your loved ones too :
1. We just lost someone in our family who had very promptly taken both vaccines. So irrespective of whether you have taken the vaccine or not , let your safety precautions stay the same.
2. If you see the SLIGHTEST of symptoms, get yourself tested. If you catch the virus , the only way you can fight it is by promptly responding.
3. Stay home. Stop visiting other homes. It is not safe for them and you. You can do it all later. So , please.
Molly Ammumma , Rest in Peace. It hurts us that we couldn’t see you one last time. Will miss you and your over enthusiastic comments on anything I shared on Facebook. I’m sure your sister , children , grandchildren , my mom and appuppan will terribly miss you and think of you every day. I can still hear your voice and the way you used to call me “Ammuusee”. I hope your voice never fades from my memory. See you on the other side of life ♥️"
It was a few months ago, Ahaana was tested positive for COVID-19. The actress quarantined herself and recovered in a week.
