After actor Edavela Babu retracted his statement given to the police in the actress attack case, yet another witness has turned hostile. On Monday, actress Bindu Panicker who was examined by the trial court has changed her statement that she had given to the police earlier.
She reportedly failed to remember her statement during her examination following which the prosecution requested the court to declare her hostile and cross-examined her. Bindu was supposed to inform the Additional Special Sessions Court here of the reasons for the enmity between the survivor and actor Dileep, who is accused to have masterminded the assault on the survivor actor to take personal revenge.
Out of the 40 witnesses, Bindu Panicker is the second witness who changed the stand in court. Earlier, Edavela Babu gave contradictory statements during his examination last week. He had said he didn’t recall the attacked actress telling him that Dileep had tried to spoil her chances in films but the police charge-sheet said otherwise.
Actor Kunchacko Boban, the 16th witness against whom a bailable warrant was issued for failing to appear before the court, stood by the statement he had earlier given to the special investigation team that probed the case. On Tuesday, the cross-examination of Rahul Nambeesan, the brother of actor Remya Nambeesan, will be held.
