Actors who suffered on-screen psychological disorders

From playing roles that endure psychological disorders to terminal illness, T-Town actors' are pushing the envelope in a growing desire to do starkly different roles.

Mahesh Babu

Breaking the mould from his routine masala fare, Mahesh played a rock star who has been suffering from a psychological disorder in 1 Nenokkadine, directed by Sukumar. The film shows how Gautham (Mahesh) struggles with the ridicule he faces in search of his true identity.

Samantha

For the glamorous Samantha, playing an offbeat character like a diabetic woman in Son of Satyamurthy must have been a tough decision. Although the crux of the family drama doesn't focus on her syndrome, the pretty damsel believes such roles get her closer to the audience.

Vikram

Vikram's penchant for doing challenging and multi-layered roles has earned him the tag of being "a complete actor'. His avatar in Shankar's I has everyone wondering what this chameleon actor up to this time. Vikram played a man suffering from a rare genetic disease (which results in premature ageing), nailed the role(s).

Nagarjuna

Nagarjuna is also game to do wacky stuff as the actor decided to ditch his hot dude image with his role in Vamsi Paidipally's forthcoming multi-starrer (co-starring Karthi). We hear that Nag, for the first time, will be seen as a quadriplegic patient – a paralyzed man confined to a wheel chair.
