Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character calling former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi a 'fattu' (a pu$$y, a wimp) in the Netflix original series 'Sacred Games' has been in the news for more than a week now. While political parties and civil society members have expressed their opinions on the issue, what does the highest judiciary think about the row?
The Delhi High Court recently stated that no actor or actress can be mentioned in any defamation suit filed with a court against a TV serial because they are doing their job and that's about it. The court was hearing a petition filed by an advocate. "The actors and the actresses are just doing their job. Actors cannot be held liable for the dialogues," the HC said.
This comes as good news for the artists, who have no choice to mouth the dialogues they speak in movies/serials.
