Veteran comedy actor Vivek passed away early this morning at 4.35 am following a massive heart attack he suffered on Friday April 16th. He was undergoing treatment in the ICU but sadly lost his life. Known for his social activism even a day before his death the Chinna Kalaivanar as he was fondly known as got himself vaccinated for COVID 19 and urged people to also follow suit to protect themselves from the deadly virus.

Actors Suriya, Jyothika and Karthi rushed to Vivek's Virugambakkam residence in Chennai where his body is kept, and paid their last respects in person. Suriya and Vivek have acted together in films such as 'Nerukku Ner', 'Perazhagan', 'Maatraan', 'Singam' and 'Singam 2' among others.

Vivek and Jyothika created humour magic in such films as Vijay's 'Khushi' and Vikram's 'Dhool' among other films. Karthi has shared screen space with Vivek in the horror-comedy 'Kashmora' in which the veteran played his father which was also his first old age role.
