Actor Vimal who made his debut in Pandiraj's 'Pasanga' produced by Sasikumar gained prominence after playing diverse leading roles in 'Kalavani', 'Vaagai Soodava' and 'Kalakalappu'. After a hiatus of more than three years he has made a strong comeback with the Zee 5 original 'Vilangu' produced by Escape Artists and directed by Prasanth Pandiaraj.

Vimal is married to Akshaya a doctor since 2010 and has three children with her. Now he too can be addressed as a doctor ofcourse not a medical one. The American National Business University has conferred an honorary doctorate on Vimal and has communicated the same to him.

Vimal's upcoming movies include 'Kulasamy' directed by Saravana Shakti for which Vijay Sethupathi is writing the dialogues and screenplay, 'Thudikkum Karangal' and 'Deiva Machaan'.
