RIP! Veteran actor Srikanth passes away - Superstar Rajinikanth condoles

The Tamil film industry has lost many of its senior achievers in the past couple of years and today Srikanth, the legendary actor, passed away at the age of 82. He was ill due to age related issues according to official sources.
Srikanth has acted in more than 200 films in Tamil. since in his debut as hero in the 1965 film 'Vennira Aadai' directed by Sridhar. The film also marked the debut of the late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalalitha and Srikanth was her first onscreen pair.
Srikanth played lead roles and also never shied away from switching to villain roles opposite Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, Muthuraman and Jaisankar and in later years costarred with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and other leading heroes as well.
Srikanth's career best character was as the antagonist in 'Thangapathakkam' in which he played Sivaji Ganesan's wayward son and held his own against the legend. He also had a powerful role in the Rajinikanth starrer 'Bhairavi' and Sripriya-Kamal's 'Neeya'. In modern era one of his notable roles was in Selvaraghavan's 'Kadhal Kondein' in which he played dad to Sonia Agarwal's character.
Rajinikanth in his condolence message has written in Tamil "The demise of my close friend Srikanth has deeply saddened me. Let his soul rest in peace."
