Actor Siddharth, who has always been fearlessly vocal with his opinions concerning national issues, was called a 'school dropout' by Karuna Gopal, Member of BJP's National Manifesto Sub-Committee, after he voiced out his support for Bengaluru based 22-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi. Condemning the Delhi police for arresting her, Siddharth had offered his unconditional support to the young woman.
In a series of tweets, Siddharth wrote, "If you want to go watch a movie with friends, you message all of them which movie, what time and where to assemble before heading there.... This is what may be called a #Toolkit. The ugly version of this is what IT cells do. Stop the bullshit. #ShameOnDelhiPolice. Standing unconditionally in solidarity and support with #DishaRavi. I'm so sorry this happened to you sister. We are all with you. Stay strong. This injustice too shall pass." Calling the actor a school dropout, Karuna Gopal tweeted, "Who is this person? A school drop out may be ? I see him writing baseless stuff mostly provocative in nature."
Siddharth shut her down in style and his response garnered massive support from his fans. He tweeted, "This lady badgered me for months to attend her panel discussion at ISB in 2009, which I did, along with @JP_LOKSATTA. Back then too I was a Post Graduate and I spoke my mind. She however sold both her integrity and her memory to her master. Now spreads Modi lies and vomit." As Karuna continued to refute his claims, Siddharth posted a screenshot of her email, where she had indeed requested him to inaugurate her son's art exhibition. The actor captioned the post, "Drop mic."
