Actor receives threats after release of ‘Godman’ teaser

The teaser of the soon-to-be-released web series ‘Godman’ may have been withdrawn from Zee5, the OTT platform, but the series is going to be released nevertheless.  Moments after the unveiling of the teaser on May 26, there arose accusations of the show hurting Hindu religious sentiments.  

Kollywood actor Daniel Balaji, who has played a womanizer and petty thief in the series, has admittedly been receiving threats on his phone from activists belonging to right-wing outfits.  All the hue and cry is over a teaser that has been cut in a particular way.  As per Balaji, who has spoken to The NewsMinute, some people are assuming a lot of things about ‘Godman’ without watching it.  

Recently, there were attempts to convince Zee5 to withdraw the series.  It is also said that BJP MP Subramanian Swamy spoke to ZEE 5 head Subhash Chandra and had the series withdrawn.

On Monday, the Chennai Central Police have registered a case against the producer, director and actors of ‘Godman’; notices have been sent to all of them.
