Actor Ramaraj, was introduced to Tamil cinema by director Bala in his 2011 movie 'Avan Ivan' starring Arya and Vishal. He played the role of a police officer that won him a place in the hearts of fans. He is said to have been ill for the past one month and was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Madurai. But he passed away early this morning.

The 72-year-old Ramaraj hailed from Mela Chakkulam village near Mudugulathur in Ramanathapuram district. He was working as a manager in a cooperative bank and entered cinema, after his retirement and has acted in more than twenty films. He is survived by his 3 sons and their families. Celebrities from the Tamil film industry and fans have posted their condolences on social media . It has been informed that the funeral rites will be held today after the relatives and friends pay their respects.
